How do you track your progress at the gym?

Progress is not always measured by how much weight you have lost. Progress can be measured in various other ways

  • Body Mass Index– This measures body fat depending on your height and weight. Getting your BMI into the permitted range shows that your health is improving
  • Skinfold calipers– to detect body fat. Its not the weight on the scale but what is in that weight that matters. Today, most weight scales can analyze body fat percentage
  • Measurements– You may not have lost weight on the scale but if your clothes are fitting you better and if you have lost a few inches, you are losing fat and gaining muscle. This is great progress
  • Waist to Hip ratio– Divide your waist circumference by hip circumference. Keep a track of this measurement. Ensure that it is slowly decreasing. It should fall within 0.80 for women and 0.90 for men
  • Fitness levels– If you are able to workout easier, do intense aerobic steps and workout with more intensity, it is a sure sign of fitness levels going up
  • Eating habits– if you are eating nutritionally dense foods, it is a sign that you have progressed to a better lifestyle by being active and eating better.
  • Better sleep– restful sleep at nights indicate that your workouts are helping you rest and recover better, as your body starts craving for good sleep
